Random Thoughts Two things about the current illegal immigration debate: One - the illegals don't pay taxes (except sales tax).  most work "under the table" and so pay no tax on that income.  Or if they have taxes withheld then they rarely make enough to have to pay any income tax.  Not only that but they also usually qualify for Earned Income Tax Credit, which is money the IRS gives to those who don't make much money.  So not only are the illegals not paying taxes but they are also taking money from the rest of us who do pay taxes. Two - it is said that businesses want the illegals made legal so they can have cheap labor.  However, if they are made legal then they are going to have to be paid minimum wage and have taxes taken out and the businesses are going to have to pay payroll taxes on their behalf.  I don't think this has been fully thought out. I recently was approached by a bum, er, excuse me, homeless person... no, I was right the first time.  ANyway, he's a big burly guy and he wanted me to give him some money.  I said, "why don't you get a job?"  He said he had a hard time fidning one.  So I told him that my son, who was 22 at the time, had been able to find 22 jobs in the prior 7 years.  My son's qualifications were he had a GED and was determined to make his life go right. I wanted to be able to say something significant about the people who were killed and were heroes on September 11, 2001, but I am in awe of the American spirit that shines through no matter what the jerks of the world throw at us.  As Charlie Daniels said, "We may have done some fightin' amongst ourselves, but you outside people best leave us alone...  You go and put your hand on a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and I think you're gonna finally understand."   We are at war and it appears that the lefties don't get that.  The Democrat Senators who are intent on bashing President Bush and insisting on troop withdrawal before the Commander-In-Chief is ready are committing treason.  They are putting the 2008 election before the welfare of the nation.   For those of you who have more money than you know what to do with, please contact me.  I know what to do with it.   I have a white friend who was born in South Africa.  She's been here for about 25 years.  Is she an African-American? I admit it.  I'm a racist.  I'm prejudiced in favor of the human race.  If you want to act like a decent human being and contribute to the whole then you can count me as a friend.  If you want to be some subspecies of the human race and individuate from the rest of us, well, good luck... For a guy who "didn't have sexual relations with that woman", he sure screwed the rest of us. I have news for all of those who want to take my money (as in taxes) and give it to the "needy" (we used to call them bums).  Communism didn't work in Russia.  It is failing in China and Cuba and it won't work here.
